The Myths of Chiron and Pholus
In these two articles, Richard explores the archetype of the Centaur, and in particular the myths of Chiron and Pholus. As a symbol of the wounded healer inside each of us, Chiron points us towards our suffering as a means of unlocking our gifts – a central tenet of the Gene Keys. In contrast, the myth of Pholus represents the drunken rebel, whose message is to tread with care when unlocking the higher currents of spiritual knowledge.
A tender contemplation on the nature of trust – that invisible thread which brings true freedom when we dare to rest in it.
At the deepest level, almost every issue confronting humanity is an issue of trust. If you consider the things in your life that make you feel uncomfortable, it is very likely that you don’t fully trust them. If you did, they wouldn’t make you feel so uncomfortable. You may still suffer, but there wouldn’t be an unease in you around them.
Through this reflection, Richard invites us to view every aspect of life, including its pain and uncertainty, through the lens of trust. Beneath all our fears lies a quiet teaching waiting to open our hearts.
