Painting creates

a stillness in me

that I’m continually searching for 

in my life as a woman.

Where

I can be falling off a Glass Mountain

(that might have taken years to climb)

and feel 

at once

all the imaginary creatures from the deep

(the place where colors are born – from darkness)

and know exactly where to land 

(without pushing, without hesitation) 

so that each mark, every stroke

knows in her bones 

the rich and perpetual relationship 

in which she belongs.
