Dare to Be Divine, Richard Rudd
One cloudy dawn, a seagull follows Richard across the empty fields – circling, swooping, crying – until the two of them are turning together in a single wheeling dance. Richard recognises the gull for what it is – the 39th Gene Key, the Vision of Liberation – and its cry that might once have irritated him becomes the very thing that sets him free.
This October, Richard takes the stage at Victoria’s McPherson Playhouse for an afternoon that will never come again. Part bardic storytelling, part sacred mischief, this unique event moves through myth and mystery as three figures carry us across time in a single afternoon.
The Storyteller calls up the ancient tale held in your marrow. The Shapeshifter slows time to the neck of the hourglass, where the room itself becomes the story. And the Sage holds open the door to a future that is already dreaming of you.
Expect lyrical poetics, live music and moments of spontaneous sacred theatre that belong to this afternoon alone. You’ll be among the first to hear public readings from two unpublished texts – The Oak Ring and The Sage.
This is the story we all know, yet has never been told. Come as you are; expect to leave changed.
