Instructions for riding a whirlwind
Before a whirlwind, do not tie things down.
Rather take the windows and doors off their hinges
and lay out your dreams in the open grass.
Then, when she comes, you will have nothing to lose.
Contemplation:
‘In this line are gathered huge shifting forces and energies. If we tighten up before an initiation, we invite calamity. If we soften and become supple and surrendered, we invite magic. The whirlwind represents unexpected and massive change. If we are silently attuned to the soul, we can anticipate such times, just as our ancestors did. Likewise, the creatures of the earth can detect the hidden currents of a coming storm. Sometimes these storms stir up great emotions in our lives, or feelings of sadness or loss, but we are also invited to view the changes from the vantage point of the soul, which revels in the sea of change. The soul knows no death, so such times are received in the spirit of initiation – a wave we have chosen to ride at the deepest level. Knowing this, we can let go of feeling a victim entirely and trust in the whirlwind’.
