- Gene Key 25.6
- The Rose Garden
- Love sprayed liberally in all directions without purpose
- The Garden of Dreams
- I have laid before you the Garden of Dreams
Each flower a journey through unknown lands,
Gather each petal with quivering hands
For the tears of grace within it gleams.
- The Contemplation
- The beautiful secret of this line is caught in its heading - love sprayed liberally in all directions without purpose. The ‘without purpose’ is the key here. Love, when fully embodied (and it must be embodied) has no purpose. In our world of phenomena we constantly look for purpose, led as we are by the impulse of evolution. But here in God’s rose garden, as the Sufi mystics often sing, love blooms for no other reason than it wishes to. The rose garden here is the heart, and when awakening dawns in the heart, all the roses, which have been filled with mournful longing for the beloved for so many aeons, suddenly bloom all at once. Here in this line, all suffering is atoned for and the shell of longing finally cracks open to become be-longing. This is a line of great poetic resolution.
