Across the Lineages

What happens when two men bound by the same ancient book finally sit down together?

Péter Müller is one of Hungary’s most loved writers, and he did not seek the I Ching; it sought him. Out of ten years in a spiritual circle came Jóskönyv, his telling of the Book of Changes – a book so alive that nearly a million Hungarians took it into their homes. Richard devoted years of patient, listening contemplation to those sixty-four codes, and through him the I Ching flowered into the Gene Keys. He is now completing its companion, The Sage – the 384 lines written by candlelight, one sutra each morning before dawn.

By Lake Balaton, they met as old friends. Here they speak of oracles and spirit guides, of storytelling and the books that came out of their long journeys. ‘It’s lovely,’ Richard says, ‘to think of our two I Chings communicating with each other.’
