Updates & Answers to Common Questions & Known Issues
Welcome, friend✨
This page is a living log of what’s actively being worked through in the Gene Keys app — bugs we’ve caught, questions that keep coming up, and where things stand with each one.
Check here first or while you wait for a response from app support; your answer may already be waiting for you.
We’re a small team, reading and answering every message personally — which means it can take some time to get to you individually. This page is here to help you find your answer sooner, without the wait.
These are the current known bugs and most common inquiry topics.
Tap any topic below to expand it and see the full answer. Tap again to close it.
- Make sure your app is on the latest version before you start.
- In the app, tap “Unlock full membership,” then tap “Redeem.”
- If you don’t see a place to enter your coupon code, do not check out. Go back and retry the steps above rather than completing checkout without it.
- iPhone/iPad: enter your code, tap “Redeem,” then complete checkout in the App Store
Android: enter your code, tap “Redeem,” then complete checkout in the Google Play Store - Your free month starts on the annual plan. We highly recommend canceling immediately upon activating your subscription — this way you won’t forget, and you won’t be charged when the free month ends.

If you already checked out without your coupon code and were charged:
We’re not able to process that refund directly — subscription purchases go through Apple or Google, not us, so the refund has to come from them:
Once your refund is complete, you’re welcome to try your coupon code again using the steps above.
There’s a bug 🐞 that’s pulling your local timezone and overriding your birth city’s timezone, which is affecting your profile. Our dev team has identified the cause and is working on a permanent fix, which will be included in an upcoming app update.
The good news is, we can provide you a workaround that corrects it right away.
Before you do this, it’s important to know: changing birth information resets all of your Journey progress, since the Gene Keys themselves are calculated from that data. If you’d rather wait for the permanent fix and keep your current progress intact, that’s completely reasonable too.
If you’d like to proceed:
- Open Account Settings and tap “Change your birth information”
- Tap the birth city field
- Clear it and retype your city
- Select your city from the dropdown that appears (this step is what saves the correct timezone)
- Confirm your birth date and time are still correct
- Save
If your changes don’t appear to update, logging out and back in often clears it up. This resets your app cache, so please follow these steps before writing back in:
Log out and back in
- Tap the hamburger menu (three lines) in the top left corner of the app.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu that opens.
- Tap “Sign Out.”
- From the main screen, enter your email address and log back in.
If the issue persists, try changing your birth city to something random, saving that, then change it back to your actual birth location. The idea of this is to force the profile to recalculate entirely as it may not be. Then, log out and log back in.
If that’s not what’s happening and your app profile genuinely doesn’t match your genekeys.com account, send a message to our App Support team with a screenshot of your birth data as shown in the app and the email address on your genekeys.com account.
You ran into a bug from a recent update — instead of loading your content, the app was showing the magic code itself. Our dev team has patched it.
To apply the fix, simply log out and log back in — that should bring everything back into view.
If it doesn’t, send App Support a message and let us know what you’re seeing, including any relevant screenshots.
On the App Store (Apple): We set the app’s annual subscription at $129.99 USD. From there, Apple automatically equalizes that price across all territories — it’s not a live currency conversion, and not a bug. US pricing excludes sales tax, while pricing in many other regions includes local VAT (often around 19–20%), which accounts for most of the difference you’re seeing. Apple also only offers fixed price tiers and rounds to the nearest one, which is why sometimes the number doesn’t land on a clean conversion.
On Google Play: Google Play converts our base price into your local currency automatically, and may include local tax depending on your country. Since many currencies also use the “$” symbol, the number you see may look unfamiliar even though it’s the same subscription — check what currency is listed next to the price to confirm.
Codes of Chemistry currently works through invitation — you can invite a friend using their email or a special link, and once they download the app, you’ll both be able to see your Chemistry together.
Every account gets one free Chemistry Token, with unlimited profiles available for subscribers. Adding someone privately, using just their birth details without them needing their own account, isn’t available yet.
We know this is a feature people want, and it’s part of our future planning. Right now, the app and the website run as two separate systems, and bringing them fully together is part of what makes private profile entry possible down the road.
Rather than hold Codes of Chemistry back until that work is complete, we chose to release it now in its current form, so people could start using it early, even with that piece still ahead of us.
