Happy Birthday, Richard! 🦚✨ In my studio, I recently challenged myself to paint the journey of Gene Key 64 on a large piece of mixed-media paper. As I was going through the layers of acryl, I had to break through a dense mental fog moving from the constriction of the Crab, through the raw movement of the Leopard, until the gold of the Peacock suddenly burst through the paint. As this is my activating Earth Gate, it felt like a deeply grounding initiation. In my imagination, I can see this painting forming a beautiful, sacred circle. Thank you for this breathtaking transmission of the Gene Keys and the Dream Arc; it is gracefully merging into one whole with my own visual language. There are certain people whose work does more than teach. It becomes a living transmission, something that enters the architecture of another person’s life and begins rearranging the rooms.
Your wisdom has done that for me.
The Gene Keys have given me language for things I could feel long before I could name them. They’ve helped me understand the Shadow not as something to conquer, but as something carrying a hidden Gift. They’ve taught me to trust contemplation, timing, gentleness, paradox, and the strange intelligence woven through our wounds.
Your work has also profoundly changed the way I understand life and death.
After losing my sister in a tragic act of domestic violence, grief altered the entire architecture of my inner world. The Gene Keys became one of the few languages that could meet me there. Your teachings helped me stop looking for answers and instead enter the mystery with more humility, tenderness, and trust. They gave me a way to honor both the devastation of her absence and the enduring depth of the love that remains.
And perhaps most importantly, they helped me begin to forgive myself for not being able to save her.
That was one of the heaviest places my grief took me. The mind can build entire worlds out of hindsight, guilt, and all the things we wish we could have done differently. Your teachings helped me loosen my grip on that burden. They helped me meet that part of myself with compassion rather than punishment, and slowly understand that love is not measured by whether we were able to control an outcome that was never fully ours to control.
They also helped me understand that grief does not need to be solved to transform us. Sometimes it asks only to be listened to deeply enough that love begins revealing another dimension of itself.
In some of the hardest moments of my grief, your wisdom helped me find meaning without forcing meaning onto the loss. It helped me understand that sorrow itself can deepen the heart, that our wounds can become doorways, and that even the darkest passages of a human life may contain a hidden intelligence that only reveals itself through time, patience, and presence.
For that, I am more grateful than I can adequately express in words.
What you have offered this world feels far greater than a body of teachings. You have helped create a field in which people can remember themselves more deeply.
I hope you know how far that field reaches.
Your words have traveled into the hearts of so many, weaving themselves into our relationships, our creativity, our sense of purpose, our uncertainty, and those countless moments of revelation when we suddenly begin to see ourselves, and life itself, through an entirely new lens. That is an extraordinary legacy to be living inside of while you are still here.
I feel profoundly grateful that your path unfolded the way it did, that you listened deeply enough to bring this wisdom through, and that you chose to share it so generously with the world.
May this next passage of your life return to you some fraction of the beauty, insight, healing, and wonder that you have helped awaken in so many others.
