The Siddhi of Romance
On renaming the heart of the Gene Keys
Sometimes in life, big things change. The Gene Keys was always designed as an open system — one that could incorporate shifts, and that could grow as we grow, revealing deeper and deeper layers of dynamic truth.
The renaming of the 55th Siddhi from Freedom to Romance is that kind of truth. If you are familiar with the Gene Keys, you will know that there was always a wonderful asymmetry in Gene Key 55. The word for the Gift and the Siddhi have been represented by the same word — Freedom. This anomaly has evidently been waiting for its moment… and that moment is now.
In my recent transmission known as The Three Great Truths of Awakening, the final truth arrives as a statement that reorients everything that came before it: Awakening is Romance, with a capital R. It’s a teaching that was already pointing here, right at the heart of the Gene Keys, and Romance, as you will learn, is a far larger word than you may realise…
Romancing Freedom
The word Freedom is somewhat haunted by its own shadow — the archetype of the victim. On the one hand, freedom implies a form of captivity — bars to be broken, or a condition that needs to be transcended. At the level of the Gift, this is exactly right. The great work of the 55th Gene Key at its middle frequency is liberation from the victim consciousness — the slow, often difficult emergence from the emotional net of blame, complaint and self-pity. Freedom then, could be seen as a process of unravelling, or remembering. It is a process similar to a snake sloughing off its skin.
On the other hand, from a higher level, freedom can be seen as an ultimate state — a freedom-from, a transcendence, even a state of rest and utter relaxation. This might give the impression of a kind of arrival somewhere. And yet the quality of the Siddhi is not the cold clean air of escape. It is warmth and intimacy. The recognition that the home you were seeking turned out to be the very ground you were standing on all along. The word Freedom tends to orient consciousness away from something. The word Romance however, tends to orient consciousness towards everything. And this distinction is part of the reason why these two words
are dancing together in this 55th Gene Key.
What Romance Actually Means
This hesitation is worth taking seriously. Because what has come down to us under the name of romantic love is really the shadow of something far older and more demanding. It is the longing but without the initiation. It was twisted and became in time the idealisation of another person — by projecting the divine onto another human being — which is why it so often ends in disappointment.
The troubadours of medieval southern France — those wandering poet-musicians
who gave us the very word Romance — were not composing love songs in the modern sense. They were initiates, carrying a hidden teaching encoded in the language of human longing and transformation. What passed down to us through the centuries was all the feeling, but stripped of its proper context.
Romance with a capital R asks something far more demanding than sentimentality: can I love what is actually in front of me? Can I remain present to this person, this behaviour — including the difficulty, the darkness and the way it refuses to be what I want? True Romance is not a soft teaching. It is one of the most rigorous orientations available to a human being.
Down, In and Together
And this is where the deeper revolution concealed inside this renaming begins to reveal itself.
The dominant current of human spirituality across millennia has followed a single direction: upward and outward and alone. Transcend the body. Transcend desire. Transcend the pull of the material world entirely. We have inherited the notion of nirvana as the great escape from samsara — liberation imagined as a departurefrom here, from this, from the difficult and unresolved texture of ordinary human life. And until now, the one who makes that journey always has done so alone. This is the Buddha under the Bodhi tree, or the mystic in the cave. Awakening, as it has been taught and sought across most traditions, has been seen as a singular event — one consciousness, alone, breaking through. It makes one feel as though the sacred were a private destination that only the sufficiently determined individual can eventually reach by leaving everything else behind.
Romance inverts this entirely, and it does so in every direction simultaneously.
Romance is not up but down — down into the body, into the felt sense, into the solar plexus intelligence that is rising in humanity now as we move through the threshold of 2027. This is not out, but in — into relationship, into the difficult and unresolved passages of an ordinary life, into the places we have spent years trying to manage or escape. And this is not alone — because you cannot have a Romance alone. The awakening that the 55th Gene Key points toward is no longer the myth of one person breaking through. It is the membrane between self and world becoming more permeable.
At its core, Romance is a tantric understanding. This isn’t tantra as a technique, but as a cosmological orientation. It is the insistence that nothing lies outside the sacred. In Romance, the full spectrum of experience, including its darkness and its grief and its most impossible passages, is the very fabric through which the divine wishes to know itself. This is Nirvana realised within samsara.
Down, in and together. Warm and intimate.
The sacred not elsewhere but here.
Freedom and Romance
So what becomes of Freedom?
It doesn’t leave because it was never wrong. It simply finds its right relationship to Romance — and that relationship turns out to be a beautiful kind of dance.
Freedom is the opening of the dance and Romance is the energy that rushes in. Freedom is the moment the skin cracks and the dragonfly emerges, whereas Romance is the discovery of what it means to actually fly. Neither word contains the whole truth alone. Together they circle each other, like two dragonflies whirling in the summer air.
This is why the 55th Gene Key has always been unique in this entire system. The Gift and the Siddhi share the same name — Freedom — because at a certain altitude, the distinction between the longing and the love, simply dissolves.
The Gene Keys has always said this, in its own way, from its very first pages. You are alive at a deeply romantic moment, because existence itself — this vast, difficult, beautiful, unresolvable thing we are living inside — has a hidden agenda called love.
We each are inside a love story, and deep in our cells, we already know the ending...
In Part 2 of this series I explain how quickly and easily the Venus Sequence can awaken ordinary people, and how in particular it speaks to the women of today through the medium of relationships. Every woman already understands the atomic power inherent in all relationships, and it is only in the unlocking of this power that our planet has a chance to change its destiny…
Only a woman has more influence over a man than power.
It is upon this single sentence that the future of our world will ultimately pivot.
